Every coaching site is dropping a “last 6 months current affairs” PDF right now — and most of them are 300 to 500 items long. Before you download one and feel buried, here is the honest truth for an SSC CGL aspirant: current affairs is not the heart of your General Awareness section. So this list is deliberately short, curated, and built only for the facts that actually have a fair chance of showing up.
How much does current affairs really matter in SSC CGL Tier 1?
In the 2026 sectional pattern, General Awareness (GA) is one 25-question section (50 marks, 15 minutes). Of those 25 questions, the vast majority are static GK — history, polity, geography, general science, and economy. Pure current affairs is usually only a small handful of questions per shift. Translation: revise CA smartly in an evening, then put your real hours into static GK. Don’t spend a week memorising a 500-item list for what is worth a few marks.
How to use this list
These are the roughly 50 facts from January to July 2026 that are most likely to be framed as a clean one-line SSC question — awards, appointments, sports, defence, summits and schemes. Read it once today, then re-read it the night before your exam. That is genuinely all the “CA prep” a Tier-1 candidate needs. Always cross-check anything date-specific on official sources (PIB / ssc.gov.in) closer to your exam.

What to skip (be honest with your time):
You do not need daily obituary lists, every minor MoU, or the full 500-item compilation. For SSC Tier-1, the return on that is tiny. Read this curated set, revise your static GK hard, and practise the GA section under the real 15-minute sectional timer. That single habit will do more for your GA score than any current-affairs marathon.
Practise GA the way the real exam tests it
